Garrett, the Eye Behind the Lens

I’m Garrett Brewer, founder of Equivocal Studios—a former teacher and coach who spent 10 years in the classroom before turning a lifelong love of storytelling into a career behind the lens. As an art teacher, I found my eye for composition; as a son, I was inspired by my mom’s passion for photography. Today, I’m a husband to Grace and a proud dad to Rylan and Karsen—my greatest motivations. Every photo I take is rooted in emotion, intention, and the belief that your story deserves to be seen and remembered.

I named it Equivocal because not every moment has just one meaning

I started Equivocal Studios because I believe that the best stories aren’t always clear—they’re felt. As a former art teacher and lifelong creative, I’ve always been drawn to the beauty of perspective. Photography and film let me explore that—capturing moments that mean different things to different people.

“Equivocal” speaks to that idea. It’s about the gray areas, the unspoken emotions, the layered meanings we find in a single frame. Whether it’s a quiet look during a wedding or the chaos of a celebration, I’m not here to stage perfection—I’m here to preserve the story as it truly unfolds.

This studio is a reflection of everything I’ve learned—from the classroom, from my family, and from my mom’s love of capturing life. It’s personal. And I hope every client feels that in the work we create together.
